Directions to Hedgeholme Stud From The South: Take the A1 North Bound to Scotch Corner. At Scotch Corner take the A66 west bound towards Penrith After about 3 miles take the Right hand turning at the cross roads, (The second X roads on the A66). This is sign posted to WINSTON. Follow this road, through the villages of FORCETT and CALDWELL, 2 miles after CALDWELL you come to WINSTON GATE.
**70 yards past the WINSTON GATE sign the road bears sharp left, (the bend is marked by Black and White Chevrons) TAKE THE ROAD GOING DOWN A HILL ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE CHEVRONS. Small yellow sign “Hedgeholme” on lamp post IF you cross over the river you have missed the turning.
FROM THE NORTHCome south on the AI to the Darlington / Corbridge Junction, Leave the AI and head towards Corbridge, at the first roundabout take the first exit, and then turn left just before the “SPOTTED DOG” public House. Follow this road, passing WALWORTH CASTLE on your left. Go straight overe the next staggered cross roads, continue on this road, and take the only right hand junction, you will then come to the Main Road (A67) turn right, and follow this road through GAINFORD and then take the turning into WINSTON VILLAGE, about three miles after Gainford. Turn left in Winston Village, cross over the river, and look for the turning as you round the corner, it is on your left, but it is better to go past the turning and turn round in the junction 90 yards further on, and approach from the other direction.
FROM THE WEST. You have two choices depending on location, either take the M62 and then join the A1 and approach as from the South, OR Come over the A66, pass the turnings for BARNARD CASTLE, and when you reach the A66 Motel on the right, take the next left, sign posted to Hutton Magna, & Ovington, at the first junction turn left, through Hutton Magna and Ovington to WINSTON GATE.
**At WINSTON GATE turn left and take the road going straight on down the right hand side of the Chevrons**
Go down drive and past cottages, you will come to a pair of gates, pressing the button on the post will open the gates, they close automatically. |
